Which Versions of wMobile can I Upgrade?

The Download Manager will upgrade wMobile 1.9 only.  If you have a previous version of wMobile, use the 1.9 download/installer link to update to 1.9 before upgrading to 2.0. If you have wMobile 1.9 installed, but it is not the most recent build, the wMobile 2.0 installer will update wMobile to the latest version of 1.9 before upgrading to 2.0. Links for the updater files are posted on the wMobile product page: http://www.w-systems.com/www/web/products_wMobile.asp

Note: If you are upgrading wMobile 1.9 or lower on a 64-bit operating system, it is recommended to uninstall wMobile and install as new, due to wMobile registry changes in the 64-bit environment.

important PLEASE READ BEFORE UPGRADING: You will need to execute the W-Systems Download Manager on any server(s) that already have wMobile components installed on them.

For example, if you have a split-server installation, you must first upgrade the Remote GoldMine Service on the GoldMine server before upgrading wMobile on the wMobile server.  If you are unsure what type of installation you have, see this topic for more information.

When upgrading or updating wMobile, always use the W-Systems Download link posted on the wMobile product page: http://www.w-systems.com/www/web/products_wMobile.asp

During the upgrade process, any users logged into wMobile will be automatically logged out.

Starting the Upgrade Process

The W-Systems Download Manager is the program that will determine which components and services are installed and whether they need to be upgraded.

1. Current product installation and download links are published on the wMobile product page at http://www.w-systems.com/www/web/products_wMobile.asp.

Once you click on the link, you'll be prompted to Run or Save. Select Run as pictured below.

2. Your server will be checked for prerequisites. If any components are missing such as .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, they will be installed at this time. To see a list of prequisites, see Installation Requirements.  It is possible depending on the components installed that a computer restart will be recommended. In this event, please stop the wMobile installation, reboot, and then restart the wMobile upgrade.

3. The W-Systems Download Manager application will start.  The Download Manager will detect which components have been installed on your server and automatically select those components for upgrade.  If a component is not installed on your server, you will see the option to install a new version.  DO NOT install a component if it is not already installed on your system.

4. To begin the upgrade process, click Start.
