List Closest

The Closest Contacts feature is used to search for and display a list of contacts based on their proximity to the current contact's address using the following criteria: (1) the radius value as set in the User Preferences; (2) a contact filter. NOTE: This feature requires that your database is geocoded (i.e., GoldMine's contact records require associated fields to store latitude and longitude values). Please contact W-Systems Corp. for more information on geocoding your database.

This selection will take you to the Proximity Filters Page to enable filters to be used:

This example shows the "Customers" filters has been selected:

To setup the filter(s) to be available in the List Closest drop-down, set the drop-down to display Add/Edit Filters then click <GO> and you will be presented with the Proximity Filters Page (see next section).

Once a filter is selected in the Closest Contacts drop-down, click <OK> to search for the closest contacts based on that filter and the proximity search radius.

NOTE: A filter must be selected for this feature to operate.

Selecting filters to display in the Closest Contacts drop-down:

From the user's list of filters (or using the drop-down to select filters from another user) place checks in the filter(s) that you would like available in the Closest Contacts drop-down of the Contact Detail page, then click <OK> to make these available. Note the trailing username in parenthesis for filters not belonging to the user displayed in the drop-down list. Optionally, the Search Radius value may be modified here as well.

The Visible Proximity Filters available in this list (for the current and other users) are built and maintained in GoldMine.

Once a filter is selected and a search performed, a list of contacts meeting that criteria will display. The distance from the current contact is displayed for each contact found.

Also for each contact is a [Get directions] link that will display directions from the current contact to the selected contact's location.

If no records are found meeting the criteria used for the search, the "No records found in a : X miles radius" message will display and there is a text box for entering a new radius to use in another search. Enter an updated radius and click the <Search Again> button.
